Jordan and Pirtek Racing head for Brands Hatch

EurotechwebAndrew Jordan believes that the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit will be good for Pirtek Racing in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship during the penultimate weekend of the season (1/2 October).

Rounds 25, 26 and 27 of the 30-race season will run on the famous Grand Prix circuit at the Kent track and Andrew is optimistic of a good showing at a track that favours the most talented drivers. The Brands Hatch GP track is a true drivers' challenge as it rises and falls through a series of fast corners and it is one of Andrew's favourite tracks.

Heading to Kent, Andrew lies sixth overall in the BTCC drivers' standings and third in the Independents' category. Meanwhile, his Pirtek Racing team mate Jeff Smith is also looking for a strong weekend after showing good pace last time out at Rockingham.

"I enjoy driving at Brands a lot," said Andrew. "The Grand Prix circuit is a proper drivers' circuit and going through the trees on the Grand Prix loop is quite a challenge; you always get the feeling of speed through there because the trees are so close. You need to get a good balance in the car. We went well there last year and I'll be very surprised if we are not strong at Brands this time around."

Andrew reckons that Brands Hatch will play to the strengths of his Vauxhall Vectra. "I think we'll be pretty strong at Brands and I'll be disappointed if we're not," he said. "The fast, flowing corners suit the Vectra and I normally go well there. So I'll go to Brands quite positive that it will be a good weekend. Out of the final three tracks this season of Rockingham, Brands and Silverstone, Brands should be our strongest track."

After qualifying at Brands Hatch on Saturday at 15.40, the first of three BTCC races will be at 11.30 on Sunday, with race two at 14.15 and race three at 17.05. All three races will be broadcast live on ITV4 in a programme starting at 11.00. Qualifying will be broadcast live at www.itv.com and live results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com
