Silverstone season final for Jordan and Pirtek Racing

Web061011Andrew Jordan says that securing third place in the Independents' Trophy is the major target for Pirtek Racing in the final weekend of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season at Silverstone (15/16 October).

Andrew will race his Vauxhall Vectra for the final time in the deciding three rounds of the 30-race season at the home of British motor racing. Heading to the final round, Andrew lies sixth overall in the BTCC drivers' standings and third in the Independents' category. Meanwhile, his Pirtek Racing team mate Jeff Smith is also looking for a strong finish to his first season of racing at this level.

However, Andrew believes that the nature of the Silverstone National Circuit will make it a tough weekend for the Vectras. "It's a power circuit and we're the slowest of the turbo cars in a straight-line with the current regulations," he admits. "So I think we'll be up against it. We could do with something to mix it all up and some rain might be really good."

With the overall BTCC title now a three-way battle, Andrew reckons that there could be high drama at Silverstone. "The championship is going down to the wire so anything could kick off and we'll need to try and take advantage of that. The main aim for Silverstone is to make sure we finish third in the Independents."

After qualifying at Silverstone on Saturday at 15.10, the first of three BTCC races will be at 11.45 on Sunday, with race two at 14.35 and race three at 17.15. All three races will be broadcast live on ITV4 in a programme starting at 11.00. Qualifying will be broadcast live at www.itv.com and live results from the weekend will be available at www.tsl-timing.com
